In general, I hate Thanksgiving. I think it is a waste of a holiday. Sure, sure, I am SUPER grateful for all that I have. But I don't want to waste a long weekend holiday in the middle of freezing November to think about it. PLUS, I could be decorating, listening to Christmas music and feeling the Christmas joy the night after Halloween if Thanksgiving did not exist. Canadians really knew what they were doing when they made their Thanksgiving in October. Every year, I try to tell Nate that I am Canadian so we can skip Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas. He never buys it.

So, to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, I wanted something fun to happen. So we decided to give Alice her first solids!! She had rice cereal, and it was a disaster, though I give her an A for effort.
This was before the rice cereal hit.  In her head she was thinking..."Oooh fun chair, fun bib, fun camera, fun mommy....
Then reality hit. NOT fun mommy....terrible, terrible tasting grossness.

She is so brave. She soldiered on amid the disgustingness.
She was looking at Nate and Derrick here hoping that Dada would save her from the NOT fun mommy and the terrible grossness.

Oh dear, oh dear. I just cannot get over how cute my baby is. I'm one of those annoying parents, I know this, but I cannot stop it.

That was quite possibly the most awesome blog update ever -- it was, dare I say it, cute. (I just want you to know that, on principle, I DON'T say that word often, so it's kind of a big deal that I just did -- all for you, Stef -- you should feel very proud). Also, as a Canadian, I hearby grant you honorary citizen status every October and November. You are welcome to eat Thanksgiving with us in October and get your Christmas on (yeah, I said it) the very next day. You have my permission and blessing.

You may be one of "those parents", but how could you possibly help it? She's darling!! has she adjusted to the solid foods since then? Or is she still hating it?

I've said this a million times. I want to eat her she's so cute.

And I mean that in a totally non-scary way.
