I should win the Mother of the Year Award.....

I have Wednesday's off to hang with my lil' munchkin. It's my favorite day of the week! We hang out, eat junk food, watch Dora marathons, chillax at Grandma's with the Smith's, and do lunch with the Wilson ladies (and Jude).

This Wednesday was different. Alice was playing an innocent game of "roll around on the couch and laugh", and me, being the "Mother of the Year", looked away with just enough time for her to fall REALLY hard, face down, on our hardwood floors. Oh , did she scream! I felt terrible, and the only thing that would bring her back from the abyss was playing "Peek-a-boo Elmo" on my laptop. I then went about my day thinking about how awesome I was for being able to console my daughter.

Cut to dinner....we go on a family outing to Ikea, where we buy this (see below) to turn a room from an office to a 6th bedroom:While there, we indulge in Swedish food, including the Mac and Cheese kids meal. I thought it tasted a little funny, but Alice seemed to like it, so I fed it to her.

Cut to 30 minutes later....Here you will find my lil' munchkin throwing up EVERYTHING she ate that day.

Cut to the doctors office....The Doc said she had a mild concussion from the fall, and food poisoning!!

So, to sum up....I am home ONE DAY to be with my baby, and she gets a concussion and food poisoning!!! FREAKING MOTHER OF THE YEAR!

(as a note....I would just like to thank my WONDERFUL Diane who takes care of my Alice on all the other days I am at work. She is a DREAM, and NEVER gives Alice back with a concussion and food poisoning....I LOVE YOU DIANE!!)

P.S. Alice is doing GREAT today! She woke up smiling and laughing like nothing ever happened!

Oh no, poor thing! No worries, girl. But just like the first comment said, don't be too hard on yourself. As far as I'm concerned, you really are the mother of the year (not being sarcastic)! Luvs!

Don't thank me, I am just the husband... No, but really, you are the Mother of the Freakin Year.

Stefanie, Jane had the exact same fall when she was about 6 months old. It was at my parents house. Couch > hardwood floor > face down > lots of crying. I feel for you. Sorry to hear about the rest of the incidents.

I think about every mother has these moments where they see their kids falling off high places onto the floor making the loudest thump. It just makes us sick to our stomaches thinking about it. You are not a terrible mother. These things just happen. It makes the kids stronger in their growing up years.

Kids are sooo resilient!! No worries, you certainly aren't the only mother who has gone through this...don't even get me started on how lame I am!
