Your birthday this year was a spectacular five day event. You had a preschool party, a real birthday party, you were sung to a hundred times at least, and you had a whole day where you chose everything you wanted to do. And you know what hit me during your birthday extravaganza? How sweet, non-spoiled, grateful, and kind you were throughout the entire ordeal. Most 5 year old's haven't reached the level of maturity and sweetness that you possess.
You told me during your birthday, "I must be the luckiest kid in the world to have such a great birthday!" and "Mom, this has been the BEST birthday ever! Thanks for everything." and "You know what made this my favorite day today? That I got to spend it with my favorite people; my family." I mean, REALLY? Where did you get that sweetness from? You were just born that way.
You are the best big sister.You are kind and loving to Mimi.You two are inseparable, and I am so blessed you love each other so much. One day you'll fight and I'll have to remind you that she is your best friend, but right now, you two are best friends. Nothing makes your parents happier than seeing the love you two have for each other. You are so excited for Atticus to be born, talking to my stomach and sharing secrets with him. You have a list prepared of all the things you'll help with (missing from the list: changing diapers). I know you'll be the best mini-mommy, and I can't wait to see you hold Atticus for the first time.
I just want to bottle you up and keep you this sweet 5 year old self FOREVER! I can't wait to see you everyday to get the run-down of your daily thoughts and happenings. The way you see the world is fascinating and I am so blessed to be a part of it. I want to protect you and keep you in a bubble for all eternity, but that is selfish of me because I know you are going to grow up to be someone so special. I can't have you all to myself forever, but I can pretend I can. Will you pretend with me? Just for a little while longer?

Alice has been cool since the day she was born. 5 years goes by so fast! You're the best mom :) You can tell because your kids are so cool.
