Here goes the first one:
Precious Mija,
You are the love of your parent’s lives. We wake up every morning astounded at how sweet, cute and smart you are. You are a ray of light that only gets brighter. We can’t believe that we have been blessed with such an amazing daughter. We feel blessed and ecstatic to have you in our life.
When you were born a year ago, I never knew how much my life would change and how you would change me. I want to be a better person because I now know that you are watching and I want to be a good example. I feel like my life has a purpose that is bigger than me.
You are the funniest little girl. You know when you’re telling a good joke, cause you laugh at yourself. Your cheeks laugh right along with your joke, and I can’t squeeze, pinch or kiss them enough. You have your definite opinions and you make sure they are known. You have a personality that was obvious the day you were born; you are funny, bright, curious, kind and charming.
You starting walking at nine months and have been on the go ever since. You have had quite a bit of bumps and bruises, but that does not stop you for one second. You are so inquisitive and there is just not enough time in the day for you explore everything you want to.
You have been giving kisses and loves since you were tiny. You are always filled with love for your family. You love your friends too and in your head you think you are about 3 years old. You want to do everything the big kids do, and you make sure it happens. You are my best little friend and I want to be with you all the time. A day is not complete until I have spent as much time with you as possible…sometimes I even delay your bedtime so we can hang out just a little bit more. You are just such a joy to be around with your fun and bright personality.
This past year has been the best year of our lives. You make every day better because it is filled with love and laughter. We thank Heavenly Father daily for giving you to us. Thank you so much for joining our family and making our lives a million times better.
Love forever,
Mom and Dad

Awesome. Do that every year. Every year. You are so blessed to have her.
What a sweet little girl! Do you think she can marry my Trevor? That was a sweet letter you wrote and a great tradition to start!
Aunt Stef,
You'll have to let your friend Andrea know that Alice has been betrothed to me since the day you and my mom became friends. She is quite the catch, so I'm willing to fight for her if I have to.
Jude...is that you? This is Auntie Stef. You shouldn't play on mommy's computer. Put the mouse down and go watch Pingu. LOVE YOU!
so tender! I love her!
Yes. Do better than me. Camryn has one I wrote on her 1st, 2nd and 3rd birthdays, and then.... Do better than me.
what an sweet idea! I love that it's part thoughtful and mushy (in a good way) and part insightful to the way she is. I mean... I can kind of tell her personality just from the way you talk about her. That is pretty cool.
Jude-
If only my blog weren't private you could go on and read what Stef wrote in response to my comment. It said something like, "Of course Alice and Trevor will be getting married!" Sounds like Stef is 100% on that betrothment!
We really do need to set Alice and Trev up on a blind play-date!
um...oh my gosh! You totally blew my cover! K, I guess Alice is now betrothed to two boys. There will be a duel when it comes time for her to marry. I am thinking the duel will contain pole-vaulting, a hot-dog eating contest and cooking expose. I can't WAIT!
